Meeting Maynard

This past summer I visited Disneyland, and before my trip, I did some web searching about the best times to visit, line waiting times, and other hints that would aid my trip. I remember running across somebody else’s page on Maynard. I read how he was known to get into “character” and really play the part. I never thought about it much at that time.

Then, during my trip, I remember suggesting to my friend that we ride the Haunted Manision one last time (it was already supposed to be closed, but we managed to get in). As we got into the elevator, I stood near the entrance. The room was just about getting full, when I turned around, and saw what looked like a audio-animatronic figure with bulging eyes, an evil grin, beckoning guest to enter. I took a peek at the cast member’s name tag, and sure enough, it was MAYNARD!!!!

At the end of the ride, we walked passed the front gate of the Haunted Mansion, and Maynard stood out by the front door, screaming in a spooky voice something about the Haunted Mansion. It was the icing on the cake for what was already a terrific day!
